James would like you to produce a report to answer his questions. Your report should be in four sections. Find your information from the internet and illustrate it with relevant images. Present your report professionally using a formal font (ask your teacher).
The report headings are in bold. The questions underneath are to guide you. Do not copy the question then answer it. Write in paragraphs.

How would we connect to the internet?
What type of connection should we have; Anologue, ISDN, ASDL, Broadband? Describe each one. Mention cost and bandwidth (speed).
How can we set up a website? What software would we need? Could we get a company to design one for us? What would the website do (promote the business, allow customers to place orders, track deliveries). How could we ensure security for ourselves and our customers?
What is e-mail? How do we set it up? What software would we use? What would we use e-mail for? Is it better than the post or the telephone? Why?
What are the features of interactive digital TV services such as SKY digital and Freeview? What sort of businesses may use this to promote or process orders? Could Dalglish Distribution use this technology?
Mobile Communications
How can mobile telephones improve communications between the drivers, customers and head office?
Select a suitable handset, network and tariff for the drivers (look for business tariffs)
What is SMS and how could this be used to improve communications?
What is WAP and how could this be used to improve communications?
PDAs
What is a PDA?
How could a touchscreen PDA be used to allow customers to confirm deliveries with the drivers?
How could PDAs further improve communication with head office? What else might the drivers use them for?
Storage
Describe each of the following storage media. What are the main uses of each? Floppy disks, Hard disks, CD-Rom, CD-RW, DVD, USB storage devices.
How much data can each type hold? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each type?
