This assignment requires you to do some research. It is not possible to get a grade unless you can describe TWO ICT systems. We will provide you with information for the first - the second you must research yourself.
Choosing an ICT system to investigate
You should know someone who comes across an ICT system at work. Most jobs now involve computers. Who could fill in a questionnaire for you about the computers they use at work? A parent or family member? A friend or neighbour?
The questionnaire should ask about...
- What the system is used for?
- What types of hardware are invloved?
- Which software is used?
- What advantages has the system brought to the organisation?
- What problems, if any has the system brought?
- Can tasks now be completed more quickly (with examples)?
- Have jobs been lost or created as a result?
- Was the system costly to install?
- What information is required? How is it captured? How is it checked for accuracy?
- What processing takes place?
- What are the outputs of the system?
- Is the system secure and reliable?
- What future changes may be made to the system?
Before you begin writing your report in the Learning Resource Centre system you should make sure that you have started this research and passed your questionnaire onto someone who can complete it for you.
If you cannot find a system to investigate you could base your work on the Ffestiniog Railway, although you may lose marks for research.
Summary
