You must follow the rules
below when using the ICT facilities at Burleigh.
You are responsible for
the computer you are working at
This means
· Any damage to the
equipment is your responsibility
· What you use the
computer to do is your responsibility
You must not
- Eat or drink in an ICT
suite. If you do so you may lose the right to use our computers.
- Damage the keyboard,
mouse, monitor or base unit in any way. If you do you will be sent a
bill for the damage and your parents/ guardians will be informed.
- Touch anyone else's computer
for any reason.
- Visit unacceptable sites
on the internet.
- Touch any wires or sockets
behind the computer. If your computer is not working ask the teacher
for help. You must not disconnect keyboards or your mouse.
Your User Area
- You are responsible for
anything that is saved into your user area and anything which happens
to the computer when you are logged onto it
- Do not tell anyone your
password
- You must only save College
work to your user area
- You must not save games,
programs or images not related to your work into your user area
- There should not be any
files ending .exe in your user area
Misuse of the College's
computers is a very serious offence. Breaking these rules will result
in....
- An after College detention.
- Your log-in will be disabled
for one week.
- Your parents will be
informed.
- You will have to work
in a Post 16 class when ICT lessons are on in the week.
Any repeat of rule breaking
and you will lose your log-in for half a term.
Please do not play the
game of trying not to get caught. You will be caught, you will lose your
log-in, your parents will be informed and your College work and GCSE grades
will suffer. And you'll get a bill.
Why we have these rules
- You must get used
to working to strict rules to do with the use of ICT, because work places
will not tolerate any misuse. For example bank employees may lose their
job if they are found using a floppy disk!
- We must ensure that the
equipment remains in good working order for all students to use.
If it is not their College work may suffer.
- We are concerned about
your safety when using the Internet.
- It is illegal to visit
certain inappropriate websites. We will all be in trouble if
you do so.
- Saving large files such
as games or pictures takes up a huge amount of space on
our servers. Providing more space for you costs us money which
we rather spend on more computers.
- You have not got time
to play games, send e-mails, or surf the internet. You may lose time
on RoA days if you fall behind with your work.
